A Comment/Review on Me-chan’s “Open Loops”
Me-chan is at it again with a delightful little tale that spirals and spirals and spirals, pulling you in long before you realize what’s happening. I’m talking about the piece entitled Open Loops. Synopsis below:
Do those who get lost in tangents ever really find their way back?
First of all, that’s a good question. I guess that depends on the tangents, the situation where they’re being evoked, the subject’s willingness to come back up… tangents are everywhere if you think about it. Our world isn’t static, and neither are our words and the feelings expressed through them. If you stand still for too long you never go anywhere so tangents are often a good way to break the routine, discover new ideas, new patterns of thinking.
If the above paragraph felt like a bit of a rambling, I can assure you it was not because what better way to talk about a story that focuses on tangents than to start with one myself? It’s all about enticing curiosity, you see? What I said before led you here because you were curious to read the rest and now you’re doing it. Of course, you can argue that you were already going to do it before I said anything but most surely you would read it differently for context matters and by giving a different perspective right from the start, you’re now more open to even more different things in the next paragraphs.
Yes, that was another tangent, but it was also true. My commentary and the story itself are following the same pattern. Me-chan’s induction piece jumps all over the place, one moment talking about spiral colors, the next drifting off into acoustics before going into Newton’s Laws of Physics. Each new tangent in the text adds a new layer to everything that came before in a way that’s impossible not to gravitate to it all. It’s expertly crafted through and through.
I really liked this one because you can see the inspiration in each line. Everything flows naturally so it’s an absolute blast to flow with it and if you haven’t had the chance to read this one yet, you should definitely do it right now and then read some more pieces by this wonderfully talented author who I’m lucky enough to call “friend”. Why are you still here, huh?
Thank you for reading.
