Alternate Auction – A Vintage Review
Have you ever experienced “kink shame”, that feeling that you must be a weirdo for liking some of the things you do, that nagging voice that tells you that having sexual fantasies is borderline unacceptable? I think we all have at some point, and I know I’m guilty of it, too. One of the first times I recall that ever happened to me involved the story Alternate Auction, by Anynom, so let’s talk about it for a bit.
This story was posted to the EMCSA on August 26th, 2000, but I’m pretty sure I only read it in early 2004, when I was still finding my way in the kink community. I don’t recall how I stumbled upon it – it’s possible I scoured the site looking for something hot to read! – but I found it, read it, and when I was done, I thought: “Fuck! Why did I find this hot? What’s wrong with me?”
The synopsis of it is simple enough, simply stating that:
Madame Sophie Marcuin has a very special article to sell off at auction.
The article in question is a silver stray with a spiralling pattern within that’s used to entice people in more ways than one. As I’m sure you’ve guessed it already, it’s the hypnotic pretext that gives “alternate” to the title of the story because, after a while, the real event begins and, instead of trays, it’s people’s minds being auctioned and sold to the highest bidder.
Now, I find this “mind-controlled slaves’ auction” deal hot as fuck but at the time I also thought I was crazy for thinking so. The “kink shame” was real but if I had let it get to me, I would have never done all the wonderful things I ended up doing in the community and thanks to it. Had I succumbed to those nasty thoughts, Spell… B-O-U-N-D would probably not exist. Small things lead to big accomplishments, but small hindrances can also become insurmountable obstacles if our mind is not in the right place.
There’s nothing wrong with having fantasies because that’s what they are. Despite what the corporate vanilla world thinks, erotic fiction should not be a taboo because it’s fiction. Despite not being entirely Female Dominant/male submissive because there are women being enslaved as well, I still find this piece hot, and I think you will too if you haven’t read it before. Say goodbye to “kink shame” for me and have fun.
Thank you for reading.
