Baby

The baby’s cries were getting louder. And closer.
“Are you hearing this?” Aaron raised his head from the warm bed.
“I don’t hear a thing,” Natalie replied.
“How can you not? It’s right here in the room!”
“You’re imagining things again, dear. Did you have another dream?”
“I… hmmm… I don’t know. I don’t remember.”
“You’re tired. Get some sleep, okay?”
“But the baby…”
“Sleep and don’t worry about this. Everything will be okay in the morning, I promise.”
Aaron laid down again, eyes glued to the ceiling. Talking about rest was easy, but reality always proved him otherwise.
“Am I losing my mind?” he mumbled.
“No, just being reprogrammed,” Natalie thought. The brainwashing seeds had already been planted. He would be wearing diapers for her before the end of the month.
