Bob Is Dead
Bob was dead. He knew not how or when, but his mortal existence had ended. He was now nothing but a disembodied spirit wandering around his former house, trying to be seen and heard.
“Hello?” he said. “Catherine, I’m still here! Catherine, please notice me!”
She did not. His wife was talking happily with a group of friends, apparently unperturbed by his demise. This realization would have shocked him to the bone if he still had bones of his own. He tried to get closer to her but he was held back by a mysterious force that also prevented him from hearing what they were saying. Furious, he tried to scream.
“Your husband is losing his mind,” Joan declared.
“Let him. It serves him well for cheating on me,” Catherine replied.
“How long are you going to make him believe he’s a ghost?” Margaret asked.
“As long as I feel like it. Just ignore him, ladies. He’ll be quiet, soon.”
“Remind me to never upset you…” Ally chuckled.
“Always a good plan.”
Bob continued to rage, dead to the world.
