Bonus Story – An Hour’s Work

Bonus Stories are special features posted at the end of each month (depending on total pledges) and available to all patrons from the get-go. A tall woman with lustrous auburn hair and smoldering eyes stood in the shadows, her lissome form draped in a black cloak that pooled around her feet.

The cloak slipped from her shoulders as she stepped into the dim light, revealing a striking ensemble that seemed both practical and enchanting. She wore a fitted leather bodice that clung to her curves like a second skin, intricate lacing tracing the contours of her waist.

Her pants were also captivating—tailored black that hugged her thighs and flared at the ankles, crafted from supple fabric that allowed for graceful movement. The hem just brushed the tops of knee-high boots made of polished black leather, their pointed toes glinting like sharpened daggers. Each boot was adorned with silver buckles that caught the light, giving her an air of defiance as if they had once trampled over adversaries without a second thought.

“They’re not coming, Mr. Smith,” she declared, her full lips curving into a dangerous smile. “or should I call you by your real name, Mr. Antonov? You’re a long way from your Mother Russia, aren’t you?”

“Who are you? And how did you know where to find me?”

“They told me,” the woman smirked. “It’s amazing how talkative wannabe terrorists can be in the right circumstances.”

Antonov’s heart raced as he stared at the woman, his mind spinning. She knew his real name; she knew about his associates. This was bad.

“You’re bluffing,” he said, trying to keep his voice steady. A sinking feeling gripped his stomach.

“Tell me who you are!” he demanded, pointing the gun at her.

“My name is Alexandra Ryder,” she grinned. “You know that name, don’t you?”
