Bonus Story – What the Fuck?

Bonus Stories are special features posted at the end of each month (depending on total pledges) and available to all patrons from the get-go. This month’s piece is entitled What the Fuck? Jim has been sleepwalking lately and waking up in all sorts of random places. Does his next-door neighbor Tracy have anything to do with it?

“What the fuck?”

Those were the exact words that came out of my lips the first night I discovered I was sleepwalking. Now, I’m not much for swearing but what was I supposed to do after suddenly opening my eyes to find myself partially submerged in a river ten miles away from home as if I had just taken part in some unholy baptism? It was freaky, it was scary, and the prelude to a strange story, which I’ll now try to share with you to the best of my abilities.

The only thing I truly remember from that night is the aftermath. Don’t ask me what I was doing before falling asleep because those memories are simply not here. I never had memory lapses before, not even when I spent most of my college days drinking, partying, and spending my parent’s tuition money instead of studying to become a doctor. Yes, I was a bit out of control back in the day but who hasn’t done stupid shit when they’re young and don’t have a care in the world? I’m not interested in reliving those days, but I don’t regret them either. We need to screw up to learn what really matters in life, right?

Sorry, I digress. I do that a lot because it’s hard for me to stay focused on a single thought for long. It’s bound to happen again so you better get used to it while you can.

Where was I? Ah, yes… that first night. I wondered if I had had too many beers but I was clean as a whistle so whatever had caused that strange turn of events had nothing to do with reckless alcohol intake.
