Community Requests VI – Colony
A category created to highlight specific creations made at the request of others. Patrons of the site have priority, but you don’t have to be one to get featured here. Just send me your best ideas/suggestions and if I like them, I’ll do something with them. New posts every Wednesday.
Because this is free stuff and I don’t have time for everything, community requests are limited to:
- photo-stories/captions/manips (simple stuff. If you want a serial or a more complex animation, become a patron.)
- micro-fiction (give me a prompt and see what I do with it.)
- poetry.
For custom flash fiction pieces and short stories, become a patron at the respective tier to commission them, and then we’ll work something out.
For the sixth entry in this new 2021 feature, we have a new piece of micro-fiction. It’s for someone with the alias Unit49 that asked me this via the contact forms on my website:
Is it possible to have something with drones?
Possible? Definitely although that’s not a favorite subject of mine. Regardless, I wrote this impromptu which I called Colony. Please enjoy.
Have you looked at yourself in the mirror recently? Do it now and tell me what you see. Is it still a man with dark brooding eyes, always eager to burn down the world and everyone in it, or is it something else, a perfect being whose sole purpose is to make it all worthwhile for me?
Take a good look, one that stays forever, and not a fleeting glance you can forget the moment your reflection is gone. Take it all in, every outline, every shadow, every refraction of white light against silver metal. See the circle, the bond, the infinite collar, seamlessly fused against your naked skin. You can’t take it off because you’re it, a piece of thrall flesh standing on two legs that is everything I want it to be.
You wanted this. You asked for it. You begged for deliverance from the impossible clutter of dead voices you carried inside. You embraced my void, and welcomed the unbreakable connection that emerged from it. The colony owns you now and I own the colony. Present yourself at my altar for your morning programming. It is a perfect day to submit, like always.
And that wraps up today’s edition of Community Requests. If you wish for this feature to thrive, It’s up to you to send me your ideas/suggestions on what you would like to see. You can use the form below for that effect. Have fun.
