Flash Fiction Friday 2023 – Week 6
Flash Fiction Friday continues in 2023. New pieces appear every Friday on my Patreon throughout the year. The minimum pledge to read them before anyone else is $3 per month. and the number of pieces available is tied to the monthly pledge total so the more you support my efforts, the more you’ll get to read. Find out what they’re all about and check out some excerpts from this week’s update in this post.
Excerpts
Kitten
Marjorie had always been a dog person ever since she was a little girl but waking up next to a kitten first thing in the morning was a delight like no other, especially the way she snuggled against her chest and purred. Had she known it was this amazing, she would have gotten herself one ages ago.
“Hi, baby, how are you today?” she said, looking into the lovely creature’s green eyes. “Did you sleep well? I know I did.”
The animal offered no response, not even a small meow, instead looking back at her, somewhat confused. She was called Luna but hadn’t learned to respond to the name just yet.

Mistress Esther’s Website
Mistress Esther’s website was a surprise and definitely not a good one. After hearing so much about the renowned hypnodomme, Joe expected her online presence to take the form of a grandiose yet easy-to-navigate hub, but when he clicked the link to the homepage he was greeted with a simple black screen instead.
“What the fuck?” he said, moving the mouse left and right and continuing to see nothing but darkness. “Am I in the right place?”
He checked and double-checked the link, even going to her social media profiles to make sure he hadn’t mistyped anything. Everything was as it should be yet the confusion and frustration remained. “What am I doing wrong?” he thought.

Revelation
Hello, my dear,
If you’re watching this, that can only mean one of two things: either I’m dead (hopefully many years from now!) or – worse! – she found me and captured me again. If the latter comes to pass, I beg you to run and not try to find me. I can’t risk losing you to her as well.
You’re no doubt confused by what you just heard and that’s perfectly understandable. I’ve kept a lot from you over the years, mostly to keep you safe, but you’re old enough to know the truth now no matter how much it hurts and, to give it to you, means talking about your mother.
Surely you remember the stories I told you about her when you were a child: how she was a brilliant scientist full of life and revolutionary ideas to make this world a better place. I also told you how she was taken from us sooner than expected because of such ideas, but that wasn’t true.

Valentine’s Surprise
Dina stood by the restaurant’s front door, rubbing her hands. She was nervous. It was the first Valentine’s Day she was spending with Gladys and even though they had promised not to buy gifts for one another, she had broken that promise and knew Gladys had done the same.
The two had met about six months prior, at the gym Dina went to, and they immediately hit it off. Gladys was not her first lover but was the only one that she could actually see herself having a long-lasting relationship with. They shared the same taste in music, books, and movies, and loved to travel to try out exotic new foods. They were a perfect match, highlighted by one of Glady’s favorite pastimes.
The late-twenties brunette was a hypnotherapist who had specialized in helping clients deal with destructive addictions like smoking, drinking, or porn. Despite not having a lot of experience, everyone she worked with had nothing but good things to say about her and her success rate spoke for itself.
