Flash Fiction Friday continues in 2024. New pieces appear every Friday on my Patreon throughout the year. The minimum pledge to read them before anyone else is $3 per month. and the number of pieces available is tied to the monthly pledge total so the more you support my efforts, the more you’ll get to read. Find out what they’re all about and check out some excerpts from this week’s update in this post.
Always Obey
Hello again. Good afternoon and thank you for coming on such short notice. Your wife won’t be joining us today but that’s okay. Having some alone time with me is what the doctor prescribed… and I should know. *chuckle*
Sorry, therapist’s humor… It’s been great getting to spend some time with you two over the last couple of weeks but now that I have a clearer understanding of your relationship, it’s safe to say where the problems lie. I understand this is not what you want to hear, but it’s you. You’re the reason your marriage is falling apart.
Now, before you go all defensive on me like you often do, please let me finish. You need to understand why I’m saying this so we can try to fix it before it’s too late. It’s not going to be easy, but you owe it to her to at least try. Please remain seated. This is too important to go to waste.
Your wife is a dominant person. It’s in her nature to be in charge, controlling her environment and the people in it. You, on the other hand, are submissive. You are a submissive man who loves to be told what to do, but you also love to resist that. You’re in flux between the need to surrender and do everything she tells you to and the desire to rebel, to push the limits, and see where that leads you. You are what’s known in the BDSM circles as a “brat”.(…)
The Seed
Emmett looked at Dr. Rawlins with pleading eyes. The test results were in and his long-time physician was looking at them, confused.
“How bad is it, Dr.?” the weatherman asked. “It’s cancer, isn’t it? I’ve got brain cancer just like my father.”
“Not quite,” Dr. Rawlins replied. “There’s something strange going on in there, but it’s not a tumor.”
“Then what is it?” Emmett clicked his tongue, confused.
“It appears to be a small animal or some sort of parasite. It’s coiled around your cerebellum. Why is that we have no idea, and we can’t say for certain if it’s causing any real damage or not.”
“What the fuck? Can you remove it?”
“It’s too early to tell, Emmett. We need to run more tests. You haven’t been experiencing any strange symptoms, correct?”
“That’s right, but I had a gut feeling something wasn’t right. My father was diagnosed at around my age, and I couldn’t take that image off my head. I needed to know, but this is not what I was expecting to hear.”
“And it wasn’t what I was expecting to find, either. This is all quite fascinating. So far, we haven’t been able to match the thing inside you to anything in medical literature. I think you’re about to become famous, Emmett, even if for all the wrong reasons.”(…)
You Cheated On Me!
“Dan, wake up! DAN!” Ellen screamed.
Daniel opened his eyes and glanced at the alarm clock atop the nightstand. It was three thirty-three am and the last thing he wanted to do was to deal with one of his girlfriend’s random nocturnal crisis.
“What is it?” he grumbled, not even looking at her.
“I just had a horrible dream,” the blue-eyed blonde wearing a pink see-through negligee said.
“So what? Look what time it is, baby! I need to be up for work in less than three hours, so go back to sleep, okay?”
“No! We need to talk about this right now!” she reached for his shoulders and sobbed.
He couldn’t believe his ears. “We do? Why?”
“Because this dream was about you. And me. It concerns us. It’s important, okay?”
“Dreams aren’t important, Ellen. They’re just fucking dreams! Please, I need to rest.”
“Just hear what I have to say and then you can go back to sleep, okay?” she insisted, laying her head on his back. “Please, Dan!”
“Fine! What’s wrong? What bothered you so much to make you wake up screaming?” he asked, rolling on the sheets to meet her troubled gaze.
“You cheated on me,” she replied, her voice low and distant, almost as it was coming from a deep and cavernous shaft.(…)
