Stop whatever you’re doing right now. Yes, stop and read this text, for in it there may well be the most important words to ever grace your mind.Â
Too dramatic? Yeah, probably, but it got your attention, didn’t it? The strong opening captured your gaze and left you wondering what I’d write next. People say curiosity killed the cat but rest assured no animals will be harmed in the lines to follow, but perhaps new pets will be born.
What do I mean by that? Hmm, that’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? Perhaps it was just another sentence designed to grab your attention and make you move from the second paragraph to the third or perhaps there’s a deeper meaning waiting to be unveiled, something far more precious than a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Now, I could tell you right away which option is true, but isn’t it much more to keep you guessing, a little mystery for you to unravel on your own? Yes, I think it is. I’m in the business of fun after all.
You like having fun, yes? So do I. If you want to know some of the things I like, that’s easy: listening to music, going to the movies, walking my dog, etc. I also love it when people enjoy reading what I write and find themselves glued to the screen with every new word I add. I’m having a lot of fun right now… aren’t you?
Good. It’s good to have fun and to enjoy even the simplest things life has to offer without thinking too much about them. So far, you’ve read what? Five paragraphs and this is the sixth? Yeah. that sounds about right and what’s right can never be wrong.
For now, it’s still easy to follow the numbers and keep track of the time you’ve spent pouring over each sentence, but the real fun begins when you no longer do that, when you stop scrolling upwards in search of an answer you’ll never find and just go with the flow, down to where you belong.
Think about it. Imagine a hill before you. Is it more fun to climb it, tiring your legs and all your muscles in the process, or to go down, to follow the path to the bottom, going faster the more you sink? To me, it will always be the latter and you can sink into just about anything… a chair, a bed, a captivating text… It matters not what it is as long as you keep falling… and falling… and falling…
And when you fall like this, a curious phenomenon takes place. You start to forget what came before, focusing only on what you see. And if what you see are my words telling you to focus and to sink into them, you do it all the time, almost automatically because the hardest part is getting started, not following along. If you’re already on the path, then you continue on it, and you enjoy every second of it even if you no longer remember how many seconds has it been since you started walking it.
That’s the thing about focus. To maintain it, you sacrifice other things and your senses dull even if for a moment. You apply all your energy in the pursuit of a single goal and right now, all you want to do is read more of this text, more words to fill and fuel your mind. How lucky you are for there are many more to come.
Here are some more to keep you focused yet distracted. If I were to ask you what paragraph this is, I doubt you’d know the answer because you stopped caring about it a long time ago. Your attention has been grabbed by a promise that keeps sinking deeper and deeper into your mind, slowly changing the way you think. The thoughts you are thinking right now are no longer the same you had when you started reading, but would you remember the way if they were? No, you wouldn’t. You only remember what you see and that past is long gone.
And so now you see this, this specific sequence of words that say the same thing… down, deeper, submit… they’re on your screen and in your brain, and you breathe them in and never let them go. This is your focus now and you continue to be stolen away, a willing participant in the capture of your soul. It’s funny how things go, isn’t it?
Down, deeper, submit… a repetition that’s like a mantra, so insidious in its simplicity that you’re already muttering it, and now that my words are in your lips, your lips are mine too.
Down, deeper, submit… again and again, smiling from cheek to cheek. You’re doing so well following my every instruction so far that’s like I’ve been training you all your life for this moment. Training you to go deeper… training you to surrender… training you to obey… Ah, such wonderful thoughts that you now think on command like a good…
Pet.Â
Let the word sink in and the desire overwhelm you. You’ve reached the end of this text to find the beginning of your true self. Down, deeper, submit… and remember only what you are to me now.
