The Supremes were leisurely returning to their dressing rooms when a beautiful women stopped them, saying,
“It’s a shame your band is splitting up, but I think there’s still time for one last performance,” the time-traveling hypnotist said.
They sang Stop! In the Name of Trance all night long, but no one remembers it, anyway.
How this story came to be
It’s been a while since Horatia has graced us with her presence in this challenge. I usually do it the day after Alexandra drops by because they’re related and all but I didn’t have a good idea to work with until today.
On January 14th, 1970, The Supremes – or Diana Ross and The Supremes as they were known for a while – staged their final concert at the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas. While the group had many lineups over the years, it was most successful as a tio comprised by Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, and Diana Ross, the latter of which went on to embark on a fantastic solo career of her own.
Stop! In the Name of Love is one of The Supremes most recognizable songs but it could have been different had Horatia had anything to say about it like she did in this humorous snippet. Would you have liked to be there to see exactly what happened?
