Incoming Message
The incoming message jingle played in Harry’s ears. Goddess Hannah texted him, saying,
“Don’t read my next message.”
The jingle played again.
“Hey, I told you not to read it!”
The jingle played again.
“Being a brat, huh?”
The jingle played again.
“Silly boy. Have you forgotten you’re triggered by sound?”
Harry’s eyes turned blank.
How this story came to be
You know how you can train to respond to certain sounds and voice commands. You can train humans that way too and that sort of triggers is something I find incredibly. hot. Imagine being unable to fall into a trance when listening to your favorite piece of music, or hearing a certain sequence of notes that are pretty much everywhere: these are but a few examples, but they’re all fascinating.
Because I find this idea hot, it made sense to use it in a story, and so I wrote this.
