Denial
“Why is it that the more you deny me…” Larry began.
“… the more you want me?” Alicia asked.
“Yes.”
“You’re submissive, you yearn for control. If I indulge you, you become complacent, but if I don’t, you’re always eager… Do you want me to hypnotize you now?”
“Yes, please.”
“No. Ask again next week, pet.”
Does reverse psychology really work? Yes, it does, but what is it exactly? Well, in simple terms, is a technique involving the advocacy of a belief or behavior that is opposite to the one desired, with the expectation that this approach will encourage the subject of the persuasion to do what actually is desired. People using reverse psychology are playing on the phenomenon of reactance, attempting to influence someone to choose the opposite of what they request.
Is the piece above really about reverse psychology? Kind of, but not quite. It’s a simple fictionalized tale of using denial as a motivational factor. It can work with the right kind of approach and if the subject’s desires are strong enough but it can also backfire and produce the opposite effect in the end. In the case of a submissive, few things are more disheartening than displeasing his/her Dominant figure so when denial is used, the subject slowly becomes more conditioned to obey in order to ensure that things remain the same. Used little by little, denial is a potent form of enslavement. It’s also hot as fuck in the right context.
I hope you found this piece hot.
Hazy
Hazy… memories like shadows…
Hazy… the sun is cold upon weary eyes…
Hazy… a feeling of perfect disconnection from everything there is and there will ever be…
Hazy with her, hazy without her, forever thinking of repetitions.
He looks at the mirror, sees her standing in the reflection.
It’s time to sleep, become hazy again.
Hazy is pretty much what I’m feeling right now. I already mentioned to you all in the past that I feel things intensely, the good and the bad. Good memories produce wonderful feelings, bad ones sometimes creep up in the most unexpected ways.
In the last couple of days, I’ve been experiencing an emotional surplus due to reliving certain events of a recent past. This metaphorical piece is not about them in any way, except when it comes to the overall feeling of haziness that takes hold when those thoughts/emotions manifest themselves.
Did you that altered states of mind like the ones produced by hypnosis can have similar effects in your perception? It’s true but they’re usually short-lived just like I know this flow of emotions is short-lived as well. Eventually, things will return to normal as the memories recede once again. Until that happens, one has to deal with things one day at a time.
How to Be a Hypnotist
“Allison, wait up!” Megan shouted.
“What is it?”
“You forgot this book back at my place. How to be a Hypnotist? Really?”
“Yeah, it’s quite fun.”
“Have you done anything worth sharing already?”
“Perhaps. Why did you come chasing me again?”
“To bring you this bo…”
Megan looked at her empty hands and started laughing.
As mentioned numerous times already, hypnosis involves a shift in perception and our perception can be easily tricked. I wrote this one as yet another reminder of that. You’ll notice that I used two female names this time around. I did it for a change of pace although this piece would work with any combination, really.
Still feeling a bit down, today. Nonetheless, I hope you had fun with this humorous take.
Minus Four
Barney confronted the chart.
“What’s this?”
“The number of seconds it used to take for you to go under,” Alice replied.
“Three hundred on the first day, one hundred on the seventh, ten on the twelfth and… minus three today?”
Alice waved her hand in front of his droopy eyes.
“Let’s make it minus four.”
Just like many other things in life, going into trance and becoming more susceptible is something that takes time… and practice. However, due to the nature of repetition and how it affects our mental chemistry, the more accustomed we become with something, the easier it gets. Being hypnotized is also a habit of sorts. The mind recognizes what’s happening – sometimes! – more easily and allows itself to slip away. If at first, you’re having trouble going under, the more you do it, the faster you go, and the faster you go, perhaps the deeper you go as well. It’s as easy or as complicated as you make it be.
In Barney’s case, everything is a trigger for him. Just thinking about going under is enough for him to do so which is why the descending numbers on the chart immediately work their magic on him the moment he starts noticing the pattern. You can be under without realizing it. Maybe you’re under reading this right now. Who knows?
