Lame Ending
Thomas was furious with his favorite TV show.
“Seriously? Such a lame finish after seven years?” he muttered.
“Hey, the original idea was worse!” Carla said.
“Which was…?”
“Everyone was hypnotized. The end.”
“No way!”
“It’s true.”
“Imagine pulling that off…”
“Imagine living seven years in seven minutes…” she giggled.
He was hypnotized. The end.
How this story came to be
We’ve all been there, right? Following a TV show for many seasons only for it to either be canceled without a proper resolution or not stick the landing at all. Sometimes, poor conclusions are worse than no conclusion at all because it ultimately sours the overall experience. I didn’t particularly care about the ending of Lost, for instance. The X-Files is still my favorite show but I don’t like the ending of the original run or the ending of the revival. Recently, I watched all seven seasons of The 100 and thought that the last one was completely bonkers, etc. It sucks!
Anyway, I wanted to play with that idea for a bit but also make it funny, and hypnotic perception came into play once again. If people can be made to believe almost anything in trance, could someone believe they had just watched a non-existent TV show as well? I think so, and apparently so does Thomas. Are you sure you’ve seen the things you think you saw?
I hope you had fun. Until tomorrow.
