The Suggestion Effect
“… and now that the drug is coursing through your veins, you are completely powerless. You will do everything I command. You will obey!” Ashley whispered in Jonah’s ear.
“I will obey,” he replied, drooling helplessly.
Next to him, laid an empty vial of simple saline solution. The power of suggestion really is a wonderful thing.
Deception in hypnosis? Surely not? A sneaky piece that’s very much to my liking, don’t really know why.
What If…?
“Why are you so worried?” she asked softly.
“What if it doesn’t work, what if I don’t like it, what if I…?” he responded.
“Shhh, easy… Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. Don’t take your eyes off me…” she instructed.
He never doubted himself ever again.
We all have moments of self-doubt. I’m no exception. I wrote this one as an answer to that.
The Right Thing
“What’s on your mind, dear?” Robert asked as he massaged his girlfriend’s back.
“Work stuff,” Gwen responded. “The project’s due tomorrow but everything will be fine, I’m sure of it. What about you? What’s on your mind?”
“Nothing. I don’t have one,” he admitted automatically, eyes unblinking.
He always knew the right thing to say.
Sometimes, I wish I knew how to always say the right thing. I guess I need to lose my mind for good.
Eighty-Four
“How many times have you hypnotized me already?” Hajime asked, nervously.
“What are you talking about? I never did such a thing!” Juri defended herself.
“That’s what you keep saying but…”
“Oh, okay. Today is the eighty-fourth day of the year so… eighty-four times total!” She grinned.
“Wait, does that mean I’m…?”
“Wake up now!”
I don’t know how many times I’ve been under. Maybe I haven’t. Maybe I’ve been more than eighty-four. Maybe I shouldn’t care.
