Do Your Worst

“Ready for your first hypnosis session?” Amanda queried.
“Damn right!” Jason replied. “Do your worst!”
“Oh, you didn’t just say that!”
“What’s wrong?”
“If I do that, I’ll turn you into an obsessive drooling slave which I’ll then pimp out for profit 24/7. Are you sure you want that?”
“Do your worst,” he drooled.

It came about as a consideration of what it says in the title, a random impromptu that just appeared in my mind. A bit dark for sure, but it’s also meant to be funny. Whether I hit the mark or not, it’s really up to you.

And that’s it, really. Too tired to write anything else that wouldn’t sound like a redundant rambling so I’ll stop.

I hope you had fun.

Sleep!

“What are you doing, Jay?”
“Math, Corinne. According to my calculations, if you use a relaxation induction, the odds of me going into trance are only 5% but if you go for a confusion induction, they shoot up to 55.”
“Interesting, but what if I only say the word “sleep”?
“Hmmm…”
The answer was 100%.

Hypnosis works differently for everyone and some techniques are borderline incompatible with a person’s mental framework. If you want it to work for you, you need to find that angle that just works and have fun in the process. Having fun means not thinking too much about things as that leads you nowhere and neither do statistics.

I wrote this one with these concepts in mind.

Level Editor

The game was everything Hank wanted, and messing with the level editor was a blast.
He designed gravity-defying platforming sections, underground mazes lit by flaming enemies, puzzle gauntlets of absurd complexity and laughed, laughed, laughed.
Amelia drew a single colorful spiral, set it on a loop…
… and then played with his mind all year long.

So… here’s something funny. Even though I consider myself to be a creative person and I was quite the gamer some years ago, I liked to play games, not make them, meaning anything related to level editors and whatnot was lost on me. Sure, I would mess with some of the things for a bit just to see what the fuss was all about but unlocking all the features and actually spending hours building up the perfect thing only to play 5 minutes and call it quits? Nah, not for me. Maximum respect for those that take stuff like that to the next level.

This piece was heavily inspired by Super Mario Maker 2 which I’m sure will inspire tons of creativity for years to come, but creativity can also be deceptively simple hence the little deconstruction at the end.

I hope you had fun.

Abduction

“You have to understand that I was powerless,” Nick noted. “The alien influence was simply too strong and when the probe came down, I shudder just remembering it.”
“So what you’re really saying is that your girlfriend hypnotized you, then fucked you in the ass, and you liked it, right?” Paul asked.
“Right….” Nick blushed.

Have you ever told a fantastic story in order to foolishly try to divert attentions from what really happened? Of course, you did. Perhaps you were ashamed, perhaps you were trying to be funny but the thing about “lies” is that they always come undone in one way or another. I used that as a reference with the sci-fi angle just for laughs because who doesn’t love a good alien abduction, huh?

Like what you want to like, love what you want to love, tell the stories you want but enjoy yourself to the fullest.
