Your Wife…
“This is what I’ve been telling you!” Luke exclaimed.
“You’re right,” Adam nodded.
“Right about what?” John asked.
“Your wife’s been hypnotizing you. I saw the pocket watch in her purse,” Luke said.
“That’s impossible,” John replied.
“Why?”
“I don’t have a wife, but you have a sister, Luke. Remember?”
Across the room, Mandy grinned.
Mandy Walker and his brother Luke have appeared in some pieces in this challenge before. They’ve also starred in several pieces of flash fiction like Close Encounter, A Long Ride, or Coming Home. I’ve yet to write a short story with the two of them though that’s still in the cards. Today, I was reminded of said characters and decided to incorporate them in another humorous piece. I think Luke is seeing people that aren’t real though I suppose that’s better than seeing dead people.
New Predator
Dr. Anders looked disapprovingly at the strange marks on Phil”s neck.
“Girls? What are these?” she asked.
“They’re not ours,” the two nurses answered in unison.
“Are you sure?”
“We no longer hunt in these grounds, Matriarch.”
“Then we have a new predator in town,” the older vampire said.
War was coming for them all.
I wrote something silly involving bites because of something bad that happened today. Since I don’t feel like posting it today, you can find the details here if you wish.
I wish you all a better weekend than the one I’m having.
You Promised…
The infection was spreading fast. Jonathan looked at Florence with pleading eyes and said,
“You promised.”
“I know,” she held his hands tight one last time before releasing them. “but I can’t.”
“But…”
“Better to have you as a slave than not have you at all.”
He screamed in agony as the zombification process continued.
Late impromptu. After yesterday’s incident, I didn’t feel like working on the site at all but seeing as the challenge must continue, I wrote this. Keep your promises or else…
We Did It!
“We did it!” Horace exclaimed, panting.
“Thank God!” his older brother stopped to catch his breath.
“Did what, boys?” Alice cooed.
“We escaped that bitch that wanted to enslave our mi…” Horace gasped when he realized who he was talking to.
“Hi,” she smiled. “It’s ‘witch’ and I can teleport…”
She whisked their thoughts away.
So… I wrote two horror pieces in a row and although I wanted to stay on the supernatural side of things, I chose to write something funnier. This is partially inspired by old cartoons like Scooby-Doo and whatnot where the heroes are hiding from a ghost/ghoul/whatever thinking they’re safe only to realize the thing they’ve been hiding away from is right next to them. I employed the same logic in a “live-action” scenario and this is what came out.
