You Can’t…

Mark jumped in his cage. His mother had arrived!
“Thank God! You’re bailing me out, right?”
“No. I didn’t raise you to disrespect female authority and since you’re already eighteen, no bail. A week in the Brainwashing Center should do wonders.”
“Mom, you can’t…”
“Of course, I can. I am a woman.” She walked away.

Back to a more fantastic scenario. I’ve written my fair share of fantasy stories with female-led societies. Fairness often doesn’t play a role in them and I decided to go down that route again. This impromptu was written during my lunch break. Short and to point just like so many of you out there enjoy.

No More Fear

It grinned at Alex, but he did not wince.
“The hypnosis worked. You’re healed!” Francine exclaimed.
“I think so, too. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, but I want something in return.”
“Anything! What is it?”
“Now that you’re not afraid of them, how do you feel about becoming a clown for me?”
Alex’s smile faded away.

In case you’re not familiar with the meaning of the word, coulrophobia is the fear of clowns. It’s something that’s actually quite prevalent either by exposition to scary movies or traumatic experiences involving masked entertainers as a child. However, did you know the opposite actually exists? It’s called coulrophilia and it’s also known as bozophilia, clown paraphilia, and clown fetish. Coulrophiles are sexually attracted to clowns and may find themselves spending a lot of time thinking about clowns or having erotic fantasies about clowns. They might also seek out clowns as sexual partners or prefer to dress as clowns themselves during sexual encounters.

I’m neither afraid nor attracted to them but, seeing as I used a clown-related pic for one of my Halloween Themed Event entry recently, I decided to explore the world of clowns in a different way and this came to be. Overcoming your fears is a worthy goal but what happens when your hypnotist is enamored with them? Yeah, you’re as fucked as Alex.

The Good Stuff

Valerie’s pendulum swung back and forth, back and forth… Matthew stared at it intensely and yawned.
“Boring! When are you getting to the good stuff?”
“What good stuff?”
“Suggestions, triggers… the works!”
“We’re already there, dear.”
“Of course, we…”
He blinked. Everyone in Central Square laughed at the man wearing nothing but a dog leash.

After completing a lengthy editing session today, I wrote the first thing that came to mind for the daily micro-fiction challenge. Perception is a recurring theme because it’s something that interests me a lot, especially the lack of it when it comes to trance states. As long as this challenge exists, you can be sure to read many takes that deal with the subject.

Message

The message on the classroom’s blackboard was weird yet Walter was intrigued.
“Feed her with nothingness? What the…?”
Instinctively, he reached for the eraser, chalk lettering crumbling before his eyes. Everything went blank, including him.
Something stirred by the door, an impression of teeth. Already inside his mind, the wraith moved in for the kill.

Back to the grind, today. I mentioned in the past I used to be a teacher. For various reasons, I left that part of my life behind but, sometimes, I still think about it. I have my memories but I also have bizarre dreams. This piece was born of one, with me on an empty classroom and something emerging from the shadows. It’s a bit weird, I know, but so am I and this is Spooky Season, after all.
