Saturday Story 2024 – Week 2 (Chasing Desire)
New standalone story today on my Patreon. Synopsis below:
A demoness offers Chase a way to make all his dreams come true, but at what cost? A sexy, supernatural tale with a bit of darkness sprinkled within.
This is an expansion/retelling of a flash fiction piece from a while back entitled “How Much Longer…” That piece had less than 400 words and this new take on the concepts clocks a little over 3000 with tons of extra details, new dialog and characters, as well as a more fleshed out ending. This piece will be published in e-book format sometime during March, as part of my Expansions series, but you can be one of the first to discover it, today.

The woman sitting across Chase’s table was tall, blonde and had piercing golden eyes, but she could take on as many forms as she liked, depending on who she was talking to. In fact, it wasn’t fair to call her a woman at all but something that posed as one whenever she visited the mortal realm. She was a demon, a spawn of the Underworld who had lived countless lives and had thousands of stories to tell about each one. Much like her physical appearance, she went by many names but the one she had chosen as her trademark for the last decade was Phoebe, the Latin form of the original Greek Phoibe, meaning “bright” or “pure”. Given she was anything but that, the name was like a private joke that never got old. Not a single one of her human connections had ever said anything about it but, maybe one day, that would change, and they could both laugh about it under the full moon.
It was a cold Winter night outside, but not in Chase’s accommodations for the weekend. He was staying in a five-star hotel in Detroit, Michigan, per her instructions. Phoebe had expensive tastes and demanded nothing but the best for her business dealings- He wasn’t too happy about footing the bill even after she assured him it would all be worth it.
“Don’t be a cheapskate, Chase,” she purred over the phone a week before their in-person meeting. “Do you want to risk missing out on your wildest dreams because of a few extra zeroes in your credit card statement? We either do this my way or we don’t do it at all. I have other potential customers waiting in line so think fast or lose your turn.”
“Okay, okay,” he muttered, afraid he would regret his decision sooner rather than later. “I’ll make the reservation tonight.”
