Prescription

“Hello, Dr. Evans.”
“Hello, Bill.”
“You said these pills would help me regain my memories…”
“I did. Has something started coming back to you?”
“I think so. Have I always been your slave?”
“Yes, Bill. So glad you finally remembered. Let me up your prescription for faster results.”
“Okay, Dr….. and thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”

Yet another impromptu perhaps triggered by the fact that I walked past several pharmacies today on my way to work and they all were advertising some sort of memory supplement and whatnot. No, I’m not taking any, and I don’t want to. However, I know some of you would love to be drugged and mindfucked this way so… Next time, you take any sort of pill, remember this one.

A Study

Andy picked up his cell.
“Hello?”
“Good afternoon. My name is Natasha from HypnoInc. We’re conducting a study on suggestibility. Can you go into trance for me right now?”
“I suppose…”
“Perfect. Just listen to my voice…”
He hung up ten hours later, no clothes, no house, and no money left on his bank account.

Don’t you just hate telemarketing? Getting random calls from time to time trying to sell you something or asking you to be a part of some market research or things like that? Yes, I know people are just doing their job but still…

It’s been ages since I received one of those calls but they used to happen quite frequently and my tolerance levels diminished after each one. It’s not a pretty thing to say but it’s true.

Today, I was reminded of those and decided to write something about it. It ended up being a lot darker than anticipated but many of you like this sort of thing, right?

Emergency Call

“911, what’s your emergency?”
“Please help me!” A man cried out. “She’s trying to brainwash me, turn me into her… Oh God, she’s coming, she… AHHHHH!”
“Sir? Sir, are you there?”
“Please forgive my husband,” a cold woman’s voice was heard. “He suffers from delusions and forgot to take his pills.”
The call went dead.

I called 911 today, or at least the equivalent of 911 in my country. Before you ask, no nothing bad happened to me but I did witness someone being run over by a car so I called for an ambulance right away. This happened during my lunch break and, as it turns out, it was more than a scare than something with severe consequences but still…

This event got me thinking about all the false emergencies people have to deal with. There are thousands of them every day clogging the lines and stopping others in actual distress from receiving the assistance they need. It’s wrong, it’s shameful, it’s a waste. However, what if in the middle of all that falsehood, something like this came to pass? Delusion or not? I’ll leave it up to you but I’m sure you already know my answer.

She Was Tired

“Well?” Lance asked the moment Jonah walked in the office.
“Well what?”
“How many times did Becca hypnotize you last weekend? ’cause I made a pool, you know?”
“You’re betting on my trances now?”
“It’s fun. I chose five. It was five, right?”
“Nope.”
“How many then?”
“Just thirty-one… she was tired.”
Lance jaw’s dropped.

Another impromptu. I just wrote the first thing that came to mind but here’s something I’m sure I never told you about me. I never played in an office pool… ever. I’m not much for bets apart from an odd lottery ticket and it’s always the cheapest because money doesn’t grow on trees and there are better things to do with it anyway.
