“Carla? Are you awake?” Mary rolled on the bed and hit him in the shoulder.
“I am now,” she grumbled. It was 2 am and the last thing she wanted was to strike a conversation. “What’s wrong?”
“I had that nightmare again. I’m scared.”
“It’s just a dream, Mary. There’s no demon bat in the house trying to fuck you. Go back to sleep, okay?”
