“Alexandra?”
“Yes, General?”
“How are things at the base?”
“Everything is great, sir”
“Then why am I getting security camera footage of naked soldiers outside my office?”
“Most of their uniforms shrunk after yesterday’s flood.”
“What are you talking about? There was no flood!”
“That’s not what they believe in.”
He sighed and hung up.
How this story came to be
Precisely a week ago, I wrote In Charge, a piece where Alexandra was left in control of the underground base so that the General could go on vacation. Until he returns, she’ll be calling the shots. The pieces will continue to follow the same dialogue format but expect a lot of new long-distance shenanigans. This is the first of this new batch of adventures and it’s all about belief, perception, and whatnot. She does love her naked hypnotized toys, doesn’t she?
