It was not the news Gary wanted to hear. Everyone else in the house had voted to punish him.
“Seriously?” he asked.
“Yes,” Erin replied.
“But I thought…”
“That’s always been your problem. You think too much but not for long.”
The doors opened while the audience outside cheered. His brainwashing was about to begin.
How this story came to be
Yeah, those sorts of programs with cameras running 24/7, capturing everything a select group of people say and do. Those programs with tribal-like voting structures where people are removed from whatever secluded place they’re holed in until there’s only one left. Those programs where millions of other people engage in mass voyeurism without shame.
I never watched any of them as they’re not really my thing but they’re still quite popular around here. Ever since the first Big Brother, there have been plenty of these reality shows and they wouldn’t be around if they weren’t massively popular.
This idea came to me while I was thinking about this peculiar phenomenon. A reality show that ends in massive hypnosis and brainwashing for real? Sounds like a good story idea.
